BJP leaders celebrate 'Modi wave' in UP, Uttarakhand
Mangaluru: Dozens of BJP leaders and workers celebrated the party's landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in Mangaluru on Saturday.
Party leaders including former deputy speaker Yogesh Bhat, MLC Monappa Bhandary gathered in front of the party office and shouted slogans. Later, party workers burst crackers and distributed sweets.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhandary said the results dispelled the perception that the BJP was an upper caste party, as it had won the support of all sections of the society.
"It is a Modi wave. The wave which started with 2014 Lok Sabha elections is continuing in 2017 and the momentum will go beyond the 2019 general elections," said Bhat.
"The credit goes to Prime Minister Modi, his government's pro-poor policies and party chief Amit Shah's strategy," the leaders said.
