Why Kerala opposed Karnataka escort service to CM Pinarayi Vijayan in Mangaluru?

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2017-02-25 12:58 Mangaluru: Tension prevailed for some time near Mangaluru Central railway station when escort personnel of Karnataka and Kerala had a bitter argument over who should escort Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who is here to participate in Karavali Souharda programme on Saturday.Kerala CM Vijayan arrived in train in the morning and took a bullet-proof vehicle to attend an event in the city. But when Karnataka escort personnel came forward to provide escort to him, their counterparts from Kerala opposed it. For a few minutes, a bitter argument ensued between the two while Kerala CM Vijayan sat in his vehicle. His convoy could not move without the escort vehicle. Later, Kerala escort personnel agreed for Karnataka personnel to escort CM Vijayan and demanded that they too be allowed to go with them.In fact, Karanataka escort personnel were fair in taking over the escort of Vijayan as he is in their jurisdiction. But it is not clear, why Kerala escort personnel were opposing this. Didn't they trust Karnataka escort personnel?Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been made at the Nerhu Maidan where Kerala CM Vijayan will address the gathering at the Karavali Souharda programme organised by CPI (M). As part of security measure, the police have called in additional forces and also installed more than 600 CCTVs at the venue. In view of a bandh called by Sangh Parivar against Kerala CM Vijayan's arrival to the city, the police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure heightened security.
