Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2017-01-23 14:08 Mangaluru: A peace rally was held to mark the valedictory of the 10th National Youth Convention of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) on Sunday. The peace rally began at Rosario School ground and it was inaugurated MLA JR Lobo and MLC Ivan D’Souza. Arch Bishop of Bengaluru Rev Bernard Moras flagged off the march. Cultural programmes marked the valedictory at St Aloysius College. Bishops Rev Henry D’Sousa (Bishop of Bellary and Convener of NYC National Convention) Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza (Bishop of Mangalore), Rev Jerald Isac Lobo (Bishop of Udupi Diocese), Justice Joseph Kurian (Judge, Supreme Court), MLA JR Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Sousa , Rev Bernard Moras (Arch-Bishop Bengaluru) and MP Oscar Fernandes were present. Speaking on the occasion, Rev Valerian Gracious (Arch Bishop of Mumbai) called upon the youth to bring change in the society. He said “be a Change first yourself and bring about changes in your house, your area. Let your good works speak for you.” The cultural and traditional dance performance by youth from North East enthralled the audience. The 10th ICYM National Youth Convention was held from January 18 at the St Joseph Engineering College campus in Vamanjoor under the theme “Touched by Jesus, Walking His Way”. The NYC was organized by Youth Council of Bishop’s Conference of India and hosted by Karnataka Region and Mangaluru Diocese in association with Udupi, Belthangady and Puttur Diocese.
