However, the police are planning to conduct DNA test on the baby’s parents to verify their claims. It all started when local residents in Perne had complained to the police that three young men were seen with a newborn and had even rented a house. They suspected that the baby could have been kidnapped. Following the complaint, the police arrested Muhammed Udaif (28), from Bengaluru, Siyab (24) from Hirebandady, and Sameer (21), on Tuesday. During the interrogation, the police found that the trio had agreed to look after the baby after its father requested them. According to the trio, the father, who hailed from Bengaluru told them that its mother left for Nepal soon after the delivery. "We have asked the baby’s parents to come to Puttur for verification. We will conduct DNA test on the parents to ascertain the truth," police added. Parents of the child are expected to come on Wednesday evening to Puttur. The baby is now under the care of the Child Welfare Department in Puttur. Uppinangady police are investigating.
