Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-10-17 14:59 Udupi: Fearful of being defamed after his illegal affair with a woman became public knowledge, a man in Bainduru killed his two children by feeding them a poisonous substance on Monday. He also fed the poison to his wife and swallowed it himself. The dead children are Ashwin Kumar Hebbar, 16, and his younger sister AIshwarya Hebbar, 14. Their father, Shankara Narayana Hebbar and his wife Mahalakshmi are in hospital, hovering between life and death, police said. Shankara Narayana is a resident of Ganganadu of Bainduru and he allegedly had relationship with a woman. That resulted in a rift with his wife. However, after some community leaders stepped in, she decided to leave him, police said. Later, worrying about loss of his reputation, Shankara Narayana decided to kill his wife and children and commit suicide. On Sunday night, he mixed poison in the food his wife and children ate, and he too consumed the food. The children were found dead on Monday morning. Shankara Narayana and his Mahalakshmi were found struggling for life and they were immediately shifted to hospital at Kundapur. Bainduru police Inspector Raghava S Padeel and his team are investigating the case.
