Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-08-24 18:15 Mangaluru: Three youths who were hiding after making a murderous assault on a man have finally been arrested by Mangaluru police. The arrested are Vijay alias Monkey Stand Vijay (30), Melric D'Souza (20) of Gorigudde and Praveen (23) of Kodikal. The trio had attacked Sandeep Shetty on May 16 this year with lethal weapons. Grievously injured Shetty was later admitted to a private hospital. Old rivalry is said to be the reason behind the attack. Praveen Vijay Addressing mediapersons, M Chandra Sekhar, City Police Commissioner said a case against the three and others was lodged at South Police Station. The police managed to arrest Nikhil Shetty, Annaiah, Dhanraj, Abhishek and Sampath Bangera and were produced before court, soon after the incident. But the trio went and remained untraceable for three months. According to Chandra Sekhar the trio had managed to secure a job as security guards in a sugar factory in Raibag, Belagavi. Following a tip-off, the trio were tracked and were arrested on Tuesday. Vijay is already facing 16 cases including robbery, riot, attempt to murder and murder against him. While Melric has five cases registered against him, Praveen faces three cases. The top cop further said that cases will also be slapped against those who sheilded the accused. He announced Rs 10,000 cash award for the police team who nabbed the trio.
