DC Rajappa, Superintendent of Police, CID, who was heading the investigating team has been transferred as SP, Railways on Monday. It can be noted that the Shetty murder case was investigated by Manipal Inspector SV Girish and was later handed over to Additional SP Sumana following allegations that the former was partial towards Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari, son Navaneeth Shetty and priest Niranjan Bhat, who are accused in the case. Later, the state government handed over the probe to the CID and SP Rajappa was supervising the investigation. The team led by him also went to the spot as part of the probe. Now, with Rajappa’s transfer, another officer will be given the responsibility to handle the case. Following the development, the leaders of the Bunts’ Association have alleged that there is a reason behind the transfer. “The move is to weaken the investigation of the murder case and to protect some persons,” a leader alleged. Rajappa’s name was listed in the transfer order issued by DPAR. Besides him, Abhinav Khare was posted as SP, Shivamogga while Ravi D Chennannavar was transferred to Mysuru District.
