Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2016-07-19 20:16 Mangaluru: A delegation from fishermen community is planning to meet and invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for an all-season port in Kulai. The project had received funding from several including New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) which had donated Rs 70 crore, Rs 70 crore under Sagaramala scheme from Union shipping ministry, and Rs90cr was released by Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh. But the proposal never took off following lackadaisical efforts from the stategovernment, following which fishermen staged a protest in front of the DC office. Subsequently, the proposal was expedited and sent to Union government for approval. With the project expected to get the nod soon, a delegation from fishermen community planning to meet and invite Narendra Modi to lay foundation stone to the project.
