Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2016-07-19 20:08 Belthangady: A pleasure trip turned into a tragedy after two persons, part of a five-member group, were killed at Alekan falls on the road to Charmadi Ghat on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Nagabhushan, 28, and Hanumantappa, 34, both residents of Chitradurga. According to the police, a group of five tourists from Chitradurga stopped at Alekan falls on Saturday after having visited Mangaluru, Dharmasthala and Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada. Nagabhushan reportedly tried to take a selfie standing near the falls but lost his physical balance and fell into the water. Hanumantappa jumped in to save him but both got dragged away by the force of water. The police from Banakal station and the fire brigade, assisted by a local social worker conducted a search operation and fished out the bodies.
