An Ayurvedic practitioner, Dr Bhat was allegedly assaulted by a taluk panchayat member at Kokkada village near Dharmasthala after the former asked the latter to be cautious while driving. The incident occurred on Monday morning when Dr Bhat had been to the local temple. Lakshminarayana TM, a member of local taluk panchayat, was visiting the temple at the same time.  Lakshminarayana allegedly reversed his vehicle rashly without noticing Dr Bhat’s car. But Dr Bhat averted the collision by moving his vehicle aside. After this, Dr Bhat asked the TP member to be cautious while reversing. Angered over this, Lakshminarayana allegedly barged into the former’s clinic and assaulted him at 4 pm. Dr. Bhat said that he got admitted to hospital after his nose started bleeding and he experienced severe bodyache following the assault. A complaint has been filed with the Dharmasthala police, said Dr Bhat.
