Mandya girl seeks police protection to marry Muslim boy

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-06-17 12:47 Mandya: A bride-to-be in Mandya has sought protection from Superintendent of Police ahead of her marriage with Sahib Khan.Lovers Harshitha of Hulivahana village in Mandya and Sahib Khan have decided to tie the knot and have already applied for the same at the sub-registrar's office in Mandya.However, Harshitha's family and Hindu organisations have expressed opposition to their alliance. In this backdrop, Harishita has written a letter to SP Sudhir Kumar Reddy seeking police protection to their marriage.It may be recalled here that a few months ago, Hindu organisations had staged a dharna in front of the Hindu bride's residence, who was marrying a boy from Muslim community. Although the couple had taken consent from their respective parents, the right wing activists had theratened to stop the marriage. However, amidst tight police security, the lovers got married.​
