Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-05-26 19:11 Mysuru: Green buildings is the only way out to bring down rising temperature, lest, days are not far when even staying in a pleasant place like Mysuru would be impossible, observed Hara Kumar Varma, Research Associate, Energy and Resource Institute here on Thursday. Addressing a gathering at a workshop on green building, Varma said people need to adopt to green building concepts to save energy. As many as 725 buildings in the country have been registered for green building concept of which 50 are from the state. According to him, when compared to conventional buildings green buildings are expensive by 15 per cent but saves 64 per cent of energy. There have been innovative methods adopted to save energy by German and Spain countries and its time local government bodies too adopted them, he added. "Adopting green building concept in Mysuru would not only enhance the beauty of this place but also helps in reducing the heat,” he added. University of Mysore School of Planning and Architecture Director Krishnegowda urged the authorities concerned to emulate Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike which is encouraging people to adopt green buildings. He further said that the university is planning to fit solar panels and has chalked out measures in this regard.
