Former MLC and JD(S) candidate KT Srikantegowda arrived with former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and a huge posse of supporters to file his nomination papers at Regional commissioner officer. Interestingly, Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj, former syndicate member of university of Mysore and Congress rebel candidate H N Manchegowda and R K Govil, also filed nomination as independents on the day. Till Monday 1 pm, 15 nominations were filed by 10 candidates from May 16. With this, the battle for graduate’s constituency will be fought between Dr Ravindra of Congress, MV Ravishankar of BJP and Srikantegowda from JD(S). However, the prospects of these candidates might at be ruined as there are many candidates who have filed nomination as independent candidates. They include rationalist Professor K S Bhagawan, Dr Krishnamurthy Chamaram, P S Yadurappa and Aradhya. Last day to withdraw nominations is May 26. Meanwhile, a few Congress workers have expressed their dissent against the party for denying them party ticket. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee member YS Siddaraju and University of Mysore former Senate member H N Manchegowda questioned Home Minister G Parameshwara why he did not support a dalit candidate to contest in the election?
