Gundlupet constituency was vacated after minister HS Mahadevaprasad passed away. By-election to Nanjangud constituency was necessitated after Congress legislator V Srinivas PRasad joined BJP. BJP candidate and former minister V Srinivas Prasad will contest from Nanjangud and late Mahadevaprasad's wife Geetha will contest from Gundlupet constituency on Congress ticket. Meanwhile, BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa claimed that BJP will win in both the constituencies. Counting of votes will be held on April 13.
