A new Passport Seva Kendra will function from Metagalli post office from January 25. Until now, those applying for passport from Mysuru and Chamarajanagar regions had to travel all the way to Bengaluru. They would be lucky, if the passport process would complete in a day. But they had to make frequent trips to Bengaluru for the slightest verification. They had been voicing for a passport centre in Mysuru, considered as the cultural capital of the state. Mysuru MP Pratap Simha too had promised to bring passport centre to Mysuru, if elected. After he won the elections, the parliamentarian had organised passport camps in Mysuru on couple of occasions. But it did not compensate for the passport centre. Finally, he has managed to keep his promise. The passport seva kendra will work on a pilot basis at the Metagalli post office. Mysuru and Gujarat were chosen to implement this project on pilot basis by the Central government.
