Submitted by Rashmi on Sat, 2016-12-24 16:06 Bengaluru: Former minister and Dalit leader V Srinivas Prasad, who resigned from the Congress recently, will be joining the BJP on Jan 2. The BJP has also decided to field Prasad from Nanjangud in the upcoming bypoll. Prasad announced the decision after meeting BJP state President BS Yediyurappa in Bengaluru. "I have taken the decision so that my political career will continue to flourish. My self-esteem is more important to me and the BJP will ensure that my political career goes well till the end. There will be no disparities in the party as promised by the party members," he said. Yediyurappa said that Srinivas was supposed to join the party when national president Amit Shah had visited Bengaluru. “But it did not happen due to some reasons. His entry has increased the strength of the party. He will contest in the by-elections from Nanjangud Assembly Constituency and will win," said the former CM Srinivas also used the occasion to lash out at the Congress. "The situation created by the Congress was very bad for me. For now, I will be contesting the by-elections,” he said.
