According to villagers, the dome was of a rarely seen Shiva temple which always remained submerged in the backwaters. It is only during extremely poor monsoon, when water level in the dam would drop, that the temple surfaced. Several temples were submerged during the building of the KRS reservoir. The beautiful Venugopala Swamy Temple, which was also submerged, has been relocated to Kannambadi village.
