Anusiya, a resident of Kuvempunagar, can’t believe that Rakesh is no more. Anusiya, a mother of four children, lost her husband nine years after marriage. When a doctor told her that she needed to undergo a major surgery, Anusiya approached Rakesh, who readily agreed to foot the medical bill. “If I hadn’t undergone the surgery, I would have not been survived,” says Anusiya. “If I am alive today it is because of Rakesh Siddaramaiah who has given new lease of life to me. Even after the surgery, when I approached him for money for the tablets, which cost nearly Rs 1000 to Rs 2000, he did not say no.” Anusiya says Rakesh had helped many like her. Due to unprecedented crowds, Anusiya couldn’t reach Rakesh’s body but paid her last respects to the portrait of Rakesh Siddaramaiah.
