Bomb blast at Mysuru court premises; 2 suffer minor injuries

Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-08-01 21:06 Mysuru: Two people suffered minor injuries in a crude bomb blast in the premises of Mysuru District Court Complex on Monday. The low-intensity blast, which occurred at 4pm, led to panic among litigants and the residents of the city. The blast damaged a toilet and the shards of the window glass panes of the toilet reportedly injured a schoolgirl who was passing by.Immediately after the explosion, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Later, dog squad and bomb squad were pressed into service.Reacting to the news of the blast, Home Minister G Parameshwar said the blast was a minor one and that the police had begun their inquiry.“Forensic team also rushed to the spot and they collected samples from the blast spot (Toilet room). We have not come to any conclusions at this time,” he said.  The police suspect that a crude bomb was used in the blast.A court employee said they were doing their usual work when they heard the blast. “Suddenly Principal District Judge told everyone to immediately stop the work and vacate the court premises,” he said.An advocate claimed he dialled 100 immediately on hearing the blast. “They did not pick the call but they called back and asked about the details,” he said.Mysuru Bar Association president BR Chandramouli said the court complex comprised 24 court nd all of them were functioning on Monday. “Unfortunately, the court complex does not have any CCTV,” he said.Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Subratho Kama Mukherji along with DGP
