Five books released at the mega ‘Konkani Ekvott’ in Mumbai

This is an annual get together of Konkani writers

Mumbai: Five new Konkani books were released at the mega get-together of Konkani associations ‘Konkani Ekvott 2017’ organised in association with Ashawadi Prakashan in Mumbai, recently.

The newly launched books are Bondh (collection of Short stories of Valley Quadras), Apovitr Sombandh (collection of short stories of Walter Lasrado), Sorgavoili Mai (collection of short stories of Ronald Olivera), Bazaar (anthology of poems by Valley Quadras), Mugdonaatlim Githam (collection of poetry analysis articles by Valley Quadras). On the occasion, special issue of was also released by Fr Melwin D'Cunha.


Rev Fr Joaquim Fernandes inaugurated the event. Hillary D’silva, co-editor of spoke on Ashawadi Prakashan’s contribution in the last 15 years.

Anant Ammembal, a well-known Marathi and Hindi theatre personality gave a brief introduction of five books. special issue, Editor Valley Quadras said 50 per cent generated from the books sales would be given to Ronald Pereira, an ailing writer who is in need of money for his medical expenses.

Konkan Taram team presented a cultural programme.

Valley Quadras remembered Konkani writers who passed away recently - Late Victor Consessao, and Gibba Kulshekar and requested all to observe a minute silence.
