Submitted by Rashmi on Sat, 2016-12-17 17:45 Bengaluru: In a surprise crackdown, at least 32 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were arrested byVijayapura APMC police here on Saturday for not having valid passport. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Alb Hashmi Limited, a factory that had employed them and took the workers to custody. It is alleged that they were illegally supplying meat to the factory. The police have now locked down the factory and are gathering details about the owner, who is said to be absconding. It is learnt that these immigrants crossed the border and reached Kolkata. From where they were sent to various places through a middlemen. The arrested workers claim that they were cheated by middlemen luring them with jobs. DySP Ram Arasiddi led the operation.
