Submitted by Editor on Thu, 2016-11-03 20:48 Belagavi: The Belagavi city police arrested Rathnaprasad Pawar for brandishing a gun during a rally organised by the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) condemning the Karnataka Rajyotsava in Belagavi. A resident of Chawatagalli, Belagavi, Pawar had brandished a gun while riding a horse during the procession. Pawar will be produced before the court soon, said DCP G Radhika. The images of Pawar leading the rally, in which even Belagavi mayor and deputy mayor took part, were splashed on the television attracting widespread criticism. The government sought a report from the Belagavi Deputy Commissioner N Jayaramu. Following the report, the police launched a manhunt to nab Pawar, who went into hiding soon after the incident. But the police managed to apprehend him. Meanwhile, RTI activist Bheemappa Gadad has written to Assembly Speaker KB Koliwad urging him to disqualify MLAs Sambhaji Patil and Aravind Patil for participating in the Black Day protest.
