Areca Tea, launched by Nivedan Nempe, a graduate in Pharmacy from Melbourne, offers a new hope for growers.Considered by far the best and innovative by-product of arecanut, the bewarage has been released by Mystic Aromatics, founded by Nivedan Nempe. The tea can be consumed without milk or sugar and a box of ten tea bags costs Rs 75. As arecanut is known for digestion, the tea stands high on it. Also, it is highly regarded for anti -depressant qualities. The tea has anti-aging properties too. Besides, regular consumption will keep a check on sugar levels.It was labour of love for Nivedan Nempe who hails from Mandagadde, Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district. After graduating in Pharmacy from Melbourne, Nivedan didn't want to join the rat race. He wanted to do something different in his native. He set up an areca research institute and areca Tea was his first initiative.Venugopal Hebbar"After a lot of research, the product has been launched to market. It has been five weeks since the Areca Tea has been released and we are hopeful of getting positive reviews," said Venugopal Hebbar, MD, Green Remedies. While it is being hoped that the product would prove an advantage to areca growers, at the same time, it is challenging to grow, he said. Explaining its benefits, Venugopal said even Ayurveda highly recommends areca for digestion as it is loaded with medicinal qualities. However, the product is not a medicine but a food bewarage.  "We recommend it to have after breakfast and dinner as it has good digestional properties," said Venugopal.When asked would it help the growers to find alternate ways of utilising areca, he said it depends on the volume of feedback. However, he hoped that it would inspire many growers.The tea has been certified by FSSSAI and CFTRI.
