Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2017-02-17 12:40 Haveri: Depressed over mounting debts, farmer Chaman Saab Arishinaguppi (60) electrocuted himself by climbing up a transformer pole in Chikkamsihosur in Hanagal taluk here on Friday. According to sources, Chaman Saab had raised 4.5 lakh loan to grow crops in his three acres of land. However, owing to drought, the crops failed and his debts mounted. He was unable to make a living as he had seven children - five daughters and two boys, it is said. On Friday morning, he is said to have told his family members that he was going to the field. But he was found dead on a transformer pole late in the morning. Hangal police have registered a case and are investigating.
