Sumtech cricketers Abu Dhabi, new champs of Mangalore Cup

As many as 20 teams participated in the Season 5 cricket tourney

Abu Dhabi: Mangalore cup 2017 (Season-5), an over arm hard tennis MRI ball cricket tournament was held under the auspices of the Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) at Sheikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium ground, here.

As many as 20 Karnataka teams from across United Arab Emirates participated in the event. All the matches were planned to be of six overs each, however, the final matches were cut short to three overs due to time constrains.

In the final battle, Friday Chargers won the toss and elected to field. Sumtech were able to put up the good score of 29 Runs (3 Overs) losing two wickets. Sumtech made no mistakes to attack opponent team’s batsmen. They successfully restricted Friday chargers to 24 runs taking 2 wickets. Controlled over and good spells by Arshad of Sumtech made Friday chargers to completely lose the battle. Friday Chargers had to satisfy with the Runner-up of the tournament.

Galaxy Abu Dhabi and Eleven worriers reached the semifinals but were eliminated by the winners and runner-up teams, accordingly.

 

Sumtech cricketers Abu Dhabi won the winner trophy with a cash award of AED 12222/- Runner up – Friday Chargers Runner-up Trophy were the runners up and they were awarded the cash award of AED  6666/. Arshad of Sumtech was presented the Man of the match in the finals and Althaf of Sumtech was awarded the Man of Series. Majeed of Galaxi Crickers awarded for the Best catches in the tournament, Best Fielder - Azar of SCC cricketers; Best Keeper of Tournament – Arif Friday chargers and Best Batsman of Tournament – Althaf of Sumtech

Besides, spectators received a Tab, mobile phone and other attractive prizes under coupon lucky draw.  Universal Hospital conducted a free health checkup at the stadium for spectators and teams.

MCC President Latheef of KH Royal Emirates thanked all sponsors, participating teams and crowd for making this fifth season a great success. He also expressed sincere gratitude to Abu Dhabi Cricket council (ADCC) for its great patronage in allocating international cricket stadium ground for this event.
