Tucked away in dense Western Ghats, the getaway at Kadavanthi village in Balehonnur, chikmagaluru district, is perfect to recharge your soul, mind and body. One can prefer to stay at tree houses, cottages or even pool-facing rooms with all the modern trappings. Also, the water fall villas with water fall besides the beds inside the room are considered the best of the spot. Majority of the rooms here are eco-friendly – built in bamboos and have large spaces allowing the natural light to enter – and aesthetically built. Surrounded by rich coffee, cardamom and pepper plantations, the stay here is a visual treat to soul and eyes. Ably guided by the resort staff, one can test their physical stamina by hiking up to a mountain. Besides, one can enjoy the shower of natural falls watching the wild beasts. However, it is the trek up to cloudy mountains through the coffee plantations what takes the cake. One can relive their childhood memories by fishing in the nearby lake or enjoy the beauty in coracle ride, merry boat riding. The resort is a labour of love of George Henry Monis, the youngest of Elias Joachim Monis and Martha Mary Gonsalves. After graduation, Monis wanted to join the army however, the fall in coffee price, changed everything. While the Monis family wanted to move out of the place, it was George Monis who decided to stay back. Being a dreamer, Monis realised natural resources in his estate were underused and decided to set up resorts, unheard of in the interiors of Malnad. Today, the resort is most sought-after by corporates and nature-lovers.
