Poland hold Germany to scoreless stalemate in Euro clash

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-06-17 10:42 Paris: Reigning world champions Germany and Poland played out the first goalless draw of the European Championship during their Group C clash at Stade de France in Paris on Friday. Both teams got plenty of chances to break the deadlock in the second-half of the match, but all their efforts went in vain. Germany remained in possession and got 15 chances to open their account, but the best opportunities both fell to Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik in the second-half. Poland are 27th in the FIFA World Rankings, which is their highest place this decade and are bidding to reach the second stage of a major tournament for the first time since the 1986 World Cup. Both teams now have four points after winning the opening match and they will be guaranteed a place in the Euro 2016 knockouts if they manage to avoid defeat in their final group clash. Poland will now lock horns with Ukraine while Germany will take on Northern Ireland for a place in the last 16. (ANI)
