New colleges including Karwar, Kodagu and Chamarajnagar medical colleges were the least preferred.  "Infrastructure related issues may have the reason for the low preference such colleges have received," said an officer from the medical education department. In the engineering stream, not surprisingly, RV, BMS, MS Ramaiah and Bangalore Institute of Technology were the first preference of the students.
