II PU results out; girls outshine boys once more

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-05-25 20:11 Bengaluru: Hit by paper leaks and bad publicity, the Karnataka PU Board released the II PU results on Wednesday. And there were no surprises as girls outscored boys once more. The pass percentage of girls was 64.78 percent while for boys it was 50.02 percent.Dakhsina Kannada topped the list of pass percentages once again with 90.48 percent, while Udupi came second with 90.35 percent, and Kodagu third with 79.35 percent. Yadgir stood in the last position with 44.16�The overall pass percentage stood at 57.20 percent which represented a drop of 3 percent from last year when the pass percentage stood at 60.54. The pass percentage in arts, commerce and science stood at 42.12, 64.16 and 66.25 respectively.“A total of 6,36,368 students appeared for the exam out of which 3,64,013 students have passed this year,” said Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnakar on Wednesday.                                                                                  Rakshitha,   Anushree, Tania,  Anitha Basappa A total of 41 colleges secured 100 percent result while 91 colleges drew a blank.On the issue of Obalaraju and Manjunath’s children’s results, the minister said though the children’s parents were involved in the leak, there was no direction from the government to withhold the results. “And according to the Supreme Court directions, children are not supposed to be punished if their parents are involved in such leaks,” said Ratnakar.Supplementary exam for students who have failed to clear the exam will be held from July 1 and the last date to pay the examination fee is June 6.
