The DPI has also asked schools to hold full day classes on all Saturdays in November to compensate for the hours lost when schools had to be shut during the Cauvery agitation. As per the original calendar of events, schools were supposed to reopen on October 30 after Dasara holidays. But as per the revised calendar, city schools will reopen on October 24. According to the DPI circular, in 11 districts, 2 days were lost due to the Cauvery protests. In 22 districts, including Bengaluru north, south and rural, more than three days were lost to the protest. DPI officials said that schools in Bengaluru city were closed for more than a week due to the unrest in September. According to reports, majority of the ICSE and CBSE schools in the city resumed classes on October 12 itself to make-up for lost time.
