Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-06-29 20:31 Mangaluru: Well-known poet Ravishankar Vaddambettu passed away on June 27 due to ill-health. He was 44. A gifted poet, Ravishankar, a resident of Bekur Kubanoor (Kasargod District), was a lecturer at Government College at Kavoor. Ravishankar took his literary inspiration from veteran writer Neerpaje Bheema Bhat. His first book of poems ‘Mauna Muriyuva Samaya’ was published in 2000 to much acclaim. Social issues dominated the subject matter of many of his poems. Ravishankar’s literary interests were seen even from a young age when he took initiative in forming Kannada club and literary club. He had also participated in Dakshina Kannada district level sahitya sammelan and Kannada Sahitya Sammelan held in Bantwal. His admirers said Ravishankar’s death was a huge blow to literature.
