Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-07-25 18:00 Manipal: The inmates of Asare, home for special children, in Manipal tried their hands at farming by planting paddy saplings near their institution on Saturday. Last year, the inmates had planted saplings and the yield was pretty good. The paddy harvested is used as poultry feed for the chicken bred at Asare.   On the occasion, a parent of one of the inmates, Shilpika Sunder of Mumbai, donated 40 blankets to Asare. These were distributed by Indira Ballal, wife of Pro Chancellor, Manipal University, Dr HS Ballal, Col Badrinarayan, Director-General Services and Nirpa Srinivas, senior manager, finance.
