Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2016-07-19 20:04 Udupi: Devadiga Yuva Vedike organised a paddy sapling planting drive to rekindle passion over farming among rural youth. As part of the initiative, paddy saplings were planted on a field owned by Laxmi Sherigar at Alevoor. The drive aims to involve rural youth in farming who are migrating to towns and cities shunning hard labor. Over 100 members of Devadiga Yuva Vedike and their families toiled to plant saplings. They also honoured owner of the land, veteran farmer Laxmi Sherigar. Devadiga Yuva Vedike secretary Prabhakar Devadiga, treasurer Praveen Kumar, other members Pradeep Moily, Wakesh Kumar, Ashok Devadiga, Ashok Alevoor, Devadiga Seva Sangha former president Sridar Devadiga, Nadashree Co-operative Society president Chandrakant Devadiga, Srinivas Devadiga, and others were present.
