Investigations revealed that both the accused and his deceased friend were under the influence of drugs when the murder took place. The accused Mahesh, 23, worked as cash collector in a private company. He has been charged with the murder of his 18-year-old friend Kiran, 18. Both were residents of Eranna Gudde in Banashankari III stage. Police said that on the evening of June 15, Mahesh rushed Kiran to a hospital, informing the doctors that Kiran had accidentally fallen from a hillock in Veerabhadra Nagar. Since the doctors declared him brought dead, he managed to escape without giving his details, forcing the Girinagar police to register a case of unnatural death. “As the investigation started, we learnt that Mahesh, a friend of the deceased, was absconding after the incident. He was traced and questioned. He revealed that Kiran, who used to respect him, had hurled filthy abuses at him on June 15 evening, when both were under the influence of narcotics. To teach him a lesson, Mahesh took Kiran to a hillock in Veerabhadranagar and assaulted him. Kiran fell on a concrete mixing machine and died of fatal head injury. Fearing consequences, Mahesh had taken him to hospital and cooked up a story,” an official said.
