Nigerian national, friend held for creating ruckus at market, hospital

Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-06-27 21:07 Bengaluru: A 30-year-old Nigerian woman and her friend were arrested by the Upparpet police after they created ruckus at a mobile phone shop in National Market in Majestic area and later at KC General hospital in Malleswaram.The accused Miphilin Maria, a management student at Reva Institute of Technology and Management, is currently residing in Yelahanka. She hails from Nigeria and is in Bengaluru on a student visa. Her friend has been identified as Yesudas, a native of Kerala.According to the police, the two were seen at National Market, outside shop number 23, consuming alcohol and kissing each other around 5pm on Monday. “The shop owner told them to go away. But Maria became angry and punched the showcase of the shop, damaging it. She also received injury on her hand and a heated argument ensued. The police were informed about the incident. The woman and her friend were taken into custody,” the Upparpet police said.Later, the police took the woman to KC General hospital in Malleswaram to provide first aid for her injury as well for a medical examination but more drama ensued. “She was opposed to the procedure and tried to assault the police. The police have taken up a case against Maria and her friend and arrested the two. They will be produced before the court for further action,” police said.
