According to ACB officials, product suppliers who wish to supply products to government-run agricultural outlets and anganwadis have to obtain licence from the Department of Agricultural Marketing. As per the rule, the complainant had submitted an application to obtain the licence. But the accused TP Gayatri allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs30,000 to issue the licence. “Unwilling to pay bribe, the applicant filed a complaint with the ACB. Based on the complaint, a trap was laid on Friday and Mrs. Gayatri was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. She was arrested as per the procedure,” an official said.
