Cousin's friends turn rapists, victim offered cash to keep mum


Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-05-28 16:45 Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by her cousin’s friends near Yeshwantpur, a few days back. The victim hailing from Madhya Pradesh has been living in the city for the past three years. According to the police, the victim was invited to join the duo accused who were going on their night drive. Since, they were her acquaintances, she joined them for a drive. They took her to their room and allegedly raped her. They also made her drink and threatened her with dire consequences, if she went public. Not satisfied by what they did, they allegedly offered her Rs 6,000 to bury the matter and called another friend to drop her home back. The victim is a resident of Ganganagar. Her ordeal didn’t end here. While going home, the accused’s friend tried to misbehave with her. He allegedly molested her at gunpoint and took away Rs 6,000 from her. He then pushed her from the moving car near RMC Yard. It was around 3.30 am. Bruised, the victim tried to stop every vehicle that went by. But no vehicles and passersby came to her help. Finally, she jumped in front of a car forcing the vehicle to stop. She narrated her ordeal to the driver who alerted the control room. The RMC yard police have now registered the case and managed to trace the victim’s cousin’s friends who had called her on mobile. The accused Shivakumar and Krishnamurthy have now been arrested by the police and booked under gang rape charges. Besides, the police have taken another accused who molested her in the car to custody and have slapped with charges of outraging the modesty of a woman.​
