Police detain three more suspects in Magadi witchcraft case

Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2017-03-07 10:37 Bengaluru: The Magadi police detained four more suspects, including an alleged witch and an underage boy, in the murder of a 10-yr-old girl, who was allegedly sacrificed to cure a paralytic patient.According to the police, Ayesha Mohammed, daughter of Mohammed Nurullah and a Class IV student, was kidnapped on the night of March 2 and found murdered on the evening of March 4. Her throat had been slit and her hands and legs had been tied. Suspecting black magic, the police detained her uncle Mohammed Wasil, 42, who confessed to the crime on sustained interrogation. Based on the details provided by Wasil, police arrested his sister, Rasheedunnissa, 38, a 17-year-old boy, who helped in kidnapping the girl, and a 33-year-old woman, Naseem Taj, from Goripalya in West Bengaluru, who allegedly practiced black magic, on Sunday."All four accused persons have been produced before the court. Wasil and Taj have been taken into police custody for further investigations," said police officer HL Nandish.Ramesh B, SP, Ramanagara district, said the accused conspired to kill the victim through black magic. He said the police were looking for a few more persons involved in the case. Accused Wasil reportedly told the police that he approached Naseem Taj to cure his paralytic brother Mohammed Rafiq. She inturn suggested a human sacrifice. Wasil showed a photo of Ayesha and got the approval of Naseem. Wasil and minor boy allegedly kidnapped Ayesha near her residence on Wednesday night and killed her by performing black magic. Next day, they dumped the body in a garbage pit near the victim's residence.Police said that Wasil joined the search party along with the victim's parents to search for the girl and also accompanied them to the police station to lodge missing person case on March 3.
