Ex-service woman robbed of purse by two women in BMTC bus

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2017-02-09 20:22 Bengaluru: A resident of HSR Layout, an ex-service woman, in the city was robbed of her ATM and credit cards, which were then used to withdraw cash and make several purchases by two female thieves.On Feb 5, Savita, a resident of HSR Layout, took a BMTC bus around 3 pm from Agra bus stop to travel to Jakkasandra. When she looked for her purse in her bag to pay the bus fare, she could not find it. "I got down from the bus because I did not have money to pay the fare. I returned home thinking that I might have left the purse at home," Savita said.But she got the shock of her life when she started getting messages from her bank about cash withdrawals on reaching home. It became clear to her that she had been robbed of her ATM and credit cards. Savita said she had written down the ATM pin on a piece of paper and kept it along with her ATM and credit cards. "A sum of Rs24,000 was withdrawn from one ATM card and credit cards were used to do make Rs1 lakh purchases," she added.In addition to the cards, the purse contained several other IDs, cash worth Rs2500 and a pen drive containing her sensitive personal information."I went to State Bank of India branch and got the video footage of ATM,” said Savita. “I could see in the video footage two ladies taking the help of the security guard in trying to withdraw the money. They try to cover their face by hiding behind the guard but one of the two cameras in the ATM has captured their face,” she said.Meanwhile, the police questioned the security guard about the money but the guard said he wasn’t aware that the women were thieves.An FIR has been filed in the HSR police station and police are searching for the two women.Savita did have some good news. On Feb 8, a person named Anthony contacted her saying he had found her purse in the post-office located in Koramangala 6th block. "He had called me after seeing my ID card and library and other membership cards,” she said.
