Submitted by Rashmi on Thu, 2017-02-02 15:22 Bengaluru: The CID forest cell of Karnataka arrested two persons, both vegetable vendors, for trading in parakeets on Wednesday. The arrested have been identified as Ayub Khan, 52, and 56-year-old Handed Khan. Police seized 43 rose-ringed parakeets from the duo. Police said the two hired people from Akki Pikki community to catch parakeets. "The parakeets are caught using glue. Tribals paste glue around parakeets nest. When the birds come out, the glue sticks to their feet,” said Balrame Gowda, DySP, CID Forest Cell, adding there was demand from pet shops for parakeets. A case was registered at the Channapatna East Police Station and the duo was later produce in court.
