According to residents, such incidents had happened in the past as well but they hadn’t paid too much attention to it. But four incidents occurred in the last one week, and in each case undergarments, especially lingerie, had gone missing. As news about the escalating theft undergarments spread, residents stopped drying their cloths on terraces. Residents alerted the police but decided not to file a complaint out of embarrassment. A few residents have decided to install CCTV cameras to prevent further theft. "We have not received any complaint in this regard, but patrolling would be intensified in the areas to prevent such incidents,” said a police officer. In April 2015, alerts residents caught Sunil, a resident of Pragatipura in Banashankari, while stealing lingerie from an apartment in Jayanagar. After noticing theft of undergarments, residents set a trap and caught Sunil red-handed.
