The accused has been identified as Raju Boranchi, a resident of Begumpet in Hyderabad and software engineer with a private firm in the city. The HAL police said the victim had filed a complaint six months about being harassed by an unknown person. The miscreant had been sending mails asking the victim to marry him for the past one year. Recently, he had mailed her nude pictures to Sunil Nair, the victim’s fiancée, and to his sister in order to scuttle the marriage. Police said the victim was the accused’s classmate while they were pursuing M.Tech in a private college in Hyderabad. Later, they did internship in a firm together during which the accused fell in love with the woman but was unable to express his feelings for her. A year ago, the accused called the victim and introduced himself as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. Saying that he wanted to verify her job details, the accused took her mails and social media information and even found the password of her email account. The accused began accessing her email to track her and later created a fake email ID to harass her to marry him. “He also used to call her on the phone. He used seven mobile phones and several SIM cards,” said the police. “Six months ago, the victim filed a complaint against an unknown person for sending messages and emails. But the police were not serious about the case. But we started hunting for him after he mailed her nude pictures. The accused had stolen those photos from her laptop, when they were doing internship. She shifted to Bengaluru after she got job here and began staying at a PG accommodation at Marathahalli,” a police officer said. The police managed to track the accused person with the help of cyber police and arrested him at his residence in Hyderabad. The accused confessed to his crime and was produced before the court.
