Student, 18, killed after being hit by speeding goods vehicle

Submitted by Rashmi on Wed, 2016-07-20 17:54 Bengaluru: An 18-year-old student was killed when a speeding goods vehicle knocked his scooter down on Gayathri Nagar main road in Malleshwaram on Tuesday.The deceased Vivek, a II PU student in MES college, was returning home after visiting Saibaba temple on account of Guru Poornima when a speeding goods vehicle knocked his scooter down, as a result of which Vivek fell from the bike and sustained severe head injuries.Passers-by rushed him to a near-by private hospital where the doctors declared him as brought dead.The Malleshwaram traffic police have registered a case against the vehicle driver.28-yr-old bike rider killedA 28-year-old motorcycle rider was killed and his colleague, who was riding pillion, sustained severe injuries when they lost control over the bike and rammed into a car near Byatarayanapura flyover in Yelahanka on Tuesday night.The deceased Vignesh and injured Irshad, 29, hailed from Kerala and worked at the cargo section at the Kempegowda International Airport.Police said the duo stayed in a rented house in Kogilu and were returning home from work when the accident occurred.The injured Irshad is currently in the ICU in Baptist hospital. The Yelahanka traffic police have taken up a case and are investigating.
