One of them identified as Palani is a rowdy sheeter in Kumaraswamy Layout, but also a murder accused in Subramanyapura police station limits, said the police, adding that the other associate, Aravind Kumar, 34, also had a murder case registered against him at Doddapete police station in Shivamogga. After breaking into a house in RT Nagar, Prem Kumar was disappointed that there were no valuables in the house. Hence he stole a Hyundai Verna car and a case was registered with the RT Nagar police. “Officials who traced him to Subramanyapura were in for a shock when the accused tried to run over the policemen in a bid to escape. The incident happened in late January/early February. A case of assault on police too was registered against him at the Subramanyapura police station,” said Boralingaiah, DCP South East. Sleuths then kept a watch on his movements and later arrested him along with his two associates Palani and Aravind Kumar from Mysore recently. It was then that the police learnt that Palani was a rowdy sheeter at the KS Layout police station and he was a prime accused in a murder of a man named Sanjeev Kumar in Subramanyapura police station limits. Palani was offering shelter to Prem as he shared the stolen booty with him, the police said. Palani also had an attempt to murder case in Ashok Nagar and an arson and rioting case in Adugodi, the police added. When the trio was grilled further, the police learnt that Aravind, too, had received his share from the spoils and was a history sheeter and a murder accused as well.
