DySP Handibag case: Bajrang Dal activist Praveen Khandya arrested

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-07-07 18:08 Chikmagaluru: In the wake of suicide of Chikmagaluru DySP Kallappa Handibag over abduction of Tejas Gowda, the police have arrested accused Praveen Khandya in Bengaluru. Praveen is a member of Bajrang Dal. According to sources, he is yet to be brought to Chikmagaluru.Meanwhile, CID has formed two teams to probe into the case. While a team of CID sleuths headed by SP Rajappa is camping in Chikmagaluru, another team headed by Y Martin has left for Muragod village in Belagavi district to gather more information on Handappa's death.According to Chikmagaluru SP Santhosh Babu, the police have also taken prime accused Nataraj to custody. The police have seized a Scorpio car which was used to abduct Tejas Gowda. It is said the car belonged to Praveen Khandya's brother-in-law. The police are gathering details of another accused Naveen Shetty. They are tracking his Facebook account, SP said. Western Region IG Arun Chakravarti is in Chikmagaluru and meeting investigating officers.Meanwhile, CID SP Rajappa grilled Tejas Gowda, Shivu and Pavan for more than an hour and visited Kempanahalli, from where Tejas Gowda was abducted. On the other hand, CID SP Y Martin met family members of Kallappa at Murgod and seized Kallappa's mobile phone from home. The police have provided security at Kallappa's house to prevent evidence from being destroyed. CID DIG Sonia Narang also visited Murgod village.
