Stuck to basics, says Jasprit Bumrah after Zimbabwe whitewash

Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-06-15 20:27 Harare: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah said that he was focused on bowling in the right areas which helped him claim his second four-wicket haul in the three-match one-day international series against Zimbabwe here at the Harare Sports Club on Wednesday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men produced a clinical performance as they eased past Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the third and final ODI to complete a 3-0 series sweep over the hosts. Chasing a paltry target of 124, the second-string Indian side romped home to victory within 21.5 overs with Lokesh Rahul and debutant Faiz Fazal remaining unbeaten on 63 and 55 respectively. Player-of-the-Match Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for the tourists, taking four wickets in his impressive spell which included one maiden over. Overall, he bagged nine wickets in the ODI series. "It is always good when the ball is moving so you can try all your variations, in-swinger and out-swinger. On this wicket, there was not so much of help like the wickets in the previous two matches. Over here, we had to be a bit more disciplined. We tried to stick to the basics, normal line and length which gave us the best chance to get a wicket," said Bumrah during a post-match press conference. The 22-year-old pacer, however, insisted that the upcoming three-match T20 series would be a different challenge, adding that they would try to execute strategies learnt from the World T20 and the subsequent IPL season. "Every match is a new beginning. Our preparation is still the same. We have played a lot of T20s in the recent past. So we will try to learn from that experience which we faced in the World T20 and all the IPL matches. We will see how the wicket goes and we will plan accordingly," added Bumrah. India will next play the opening T20 against Zimbabwe on Saturday. (ANI)
