Udupi: We have to teach our children to respect women, said Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who was in the city to attend the All India Samskrit Sammelan organised by Sri Krishna Math.

Fielding questions over the Bengaluru molestation incident, Mahajan said the police and the government should take strict action against the culprits. “At the same time, society should play a prominent role in protecting women. Similar incidents are reported in the country, society should play a very important part in teaching children to respect women,” she said.

During her visit, Mahajan obtained the darshan of Sri Krishna Mukhyaprana and received the blessing of Prayaya Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
