It is learnt that Revathi allegedly ignored a complaint against criminals who were threatening a local businessman here. Uttar Kannada Superintendent of Police C Vamshi Krishna confirmed that following a complaint of dereliction of duty on the part of Revathi, the officer had been suspended on Saturday. She submitted her resignation to the Circle Inspector, Bhatkal Circle on Sunday. According to sources, Mohsin, a businessman from Bhatkal had approached Revathi with a complaint against six persons who were allegedly harassing him and demanding Rs 20 lakh. Instead of registering the complaint, Revathi, it is learnt, allegedly threatened Mohsin and asked him to compromise with the accused. Also, she kept the complaint for over a week. Upset over the whole development, Mohsin directly complained to the Director-General and Inspector-General Police a fortnight ago. Later, the complaint was referred to SP Krishna who in turn referred it to the Bhatkal town station. The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bhatkal sub-division registered a case against six persons. Of them, two have been arrested and four were at large. Following a report by ASP on Revathi, SP Krishna issued orders suspending Revathi.
