Girish, who is said to be stable now after he drank a floor cleaner, is being grilled by the police. Addressing mediapersons here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police Kartik Reddy said that Girish had given a supari of Rs 50,000 to Chidanand to hack Prafulla. In fact, a month ago, there was an attempt on Prafulla’s life. Gram Panchayat member Chidananda had allegedly offered food mixed with sleeping pills. However, Prafulla, who smelt something odd in the food, had refused to eat. It is alleged that Girish and Prafulla’s mother had an illicit relation and Prafulla had, even, once caught them together. Disgusted over this, she would frequently fight with Girish. According to Reddy, Girish was frustrated with his wife, who allegedly would harass their three-year-old son. Besides, she would kick up a quarrel with Girish for no reason and would complain to his seniors, at the drop of hat. She had once set fire to her mother’s sarees, during a fight with her, it is said. Unable to take Prafulla’s antics, Girish gave supari to Chidanand to kill Prafulla, Reddy added. The police have also arrested Prafulla’s mother.
