Submitted by Kumuda on Thu, 2017-01-05 18:09 Bengaluru: Following the outrage over the Kammanahalli sexual assault case, the police arrested four youths – Aiyappa alias Nitish Kumar, Lenin Patrick, Sudesh and Somashekhar alias Chinnu. Addressing media persons on Thursday, Police Commissioner Praveen Sood thanked Prashanth Francis, a resident of Kammanahalli, for providing the CCTV footage that helped in cracking the case. The top cop said two teams headed by Hemanth Nimbalkar and Harsha managed to arrest the culprits in 48 hours. Aiyyappa, the prime accused, is an ITI graduate and works as a delivery boy in an online food firm. According to the police, Aiyyappa had been stalking the victim and used the NY Eve's celebrations to attack along with his accomplices. The other accused are Leno, reportedly a B.Com student who worked in an online food firm as a delivery boy, Sudesh, a PU student and a resident of Chikkabanaswadi, and Somashekhar alias Chinnu, a sales executive in a reputed online store. The police have filed cases under IPC Sections 341, 354a and 354b against the accused. Sood said the victim, who reportedly arrived in the city a few days ago, had been traumatised by the incident. He said the police were in touch with her. The victim, who was returning home after the New Year celebration, was followed by a two bike-borne youth, one of whom sexually assaulted her when the girl tried to resist him. The entire incident was recorded by the CCTV camera installed in the compound of Prashanth Francis's house.
